Ramadan is coming

Ramadan is around the corner. It is estimated to fall on Sunday 24th September 2006, so that Saturday would normally be a lunch session by many as it would be the last day that we could have meals during daytime. For me, an ayam kampong lunch with a group of friends might do the trick or brunch at Raju’s ( which after every visit we would have requests to change all our dishes to banana leaf by our son )

For me, the whole month of Ramadan is very special in a sense that :

Feeling of serenity esp. during nighttime
The practice itself could help you build up your patience
Cleansing Act – bodily & spiritually

Ramadan is also a blessing in disguise as it would always take me down the memory lane where I would reminisce of how we used to get RM1/day for fasting from our parents, *tricks* of looking tired to avoid chores, painting the house for Eid, fireworks fight with neighbours and friends ~ now banned but one could find ways wink ~, eating to the max during iftar, iftar in the UK when we were studying etc.

Nowadays, it would be filled with thoughts of dishes to have for buka puasa, where to go for buka puasa, how many kg’s would I lose ~ piled on a few during the last few months due to new work schedule ~, preparation for Eid and the dreaded pre-Eid shopping trip.

Anyhow, one should always be able to enjoy Ramadan. Even my non-muslim friends, colleagues and acquaintances also are looking forward to it for smorgasbords of food abound at Bazaar Ramadan. May my observance this year is accepted by Him.
